Question by TyPat: English to Spanish human version. (Spanish speakers)?
I had recently added a post and thank you to everyone that answered. I now have the rest of the email. The first post was my first time using Yahoo Answers but I have a small more confidence now.
So here is what I need translated. For my 12 yr ancient female niece (I reckon that is relevant)
THE EMAIL
I did not hear back from you so I wanted to take this opportunity to try to contact you. I can’t wait to speak to you again, because you have not questioned me any question but I image that you have some question that have not been answered. I added you to my “messenger”, so you can contact me at anytime you feel you need to or want to talk. Its been 11 yrs in view of the fact that I saw you and held you in my arms, everyday in view of the fact that then I never forgot about you. Even though I haven’t been in your life you have always been in my heart.The fact that you only speak spanish and I only speak english, is not the best situation, but
I am learning quick and the more we talk I can learn spanish from you and you can learn english from me.
I look forward to reading your email.

And I am working on my crash way in Rosetta Stone unless someone has a better and quicker solution for me to learn Spanish quickly.

Question by gatorhator21: WHat is the best way for an English speaker to learn Spanish (or is Portuguese simpler?)?
My girlfriend of 6 months speaks 3 languages. Spanish is her native language, her Portuguese is nearly perfect (so she says, I wouldn’t have any thought obviously) and her English is very excellent but not perfect.
I only speak English. When we are together she will talk to her Spanish speaking friends on her cell and I have no thought what she is saying. I would really like to know. I also don’t want to learn from her because I want to surprise her once I start to learn enough. The first time I talk to her in her language I want it to be a full exchange and not just a phrase or two. I reckon she would really like that.
So my questions…..
1) What is the best way for me to learn this without her knowing?
2) How long do you reckon it would take. I am a honestly quick learner when it comes to math/science/history, but I HATED foreign language in high school.
3) Is Spanish or Portuguese simpler to learn for an English speaker?

Well my friend for a person who has been learning Spanish for more than 45 being I guess I can answer some of your questions.I reckon Spanish is simpler and more useful than Portuguese.If you despise to learn something than don’t dissipate your time.It takes very long to learn a language.I probably would not know your girlfriend if she phoned me I am also getting deaf.Let her help you and listen to her.

#1 I was born in Tracy, CA in 1991 a year after my parents were married.
#2 I lived in Tracy for a year, then went to Manteca.
#3 When I was 2-5 I loved to play dress up with my dolls.
#4 When I was 7 I learned to ride a bike, and road it all the time.
#5 At 10, 11 + (plus) the cool thing to do was to just hang out with friends.
#6 My family and I travel every year to Inglebrite lake to go camping, and boating.
#7 My “WHOLE” family goes.
#8 My favorite memory when I was young was going to Disneyland.
#9 My favorite ride was this roller coaster, it was built all in side and it was dark and quick.
#10 We road on it over and over on our last night because there was no line, because the parade was about to start.

Nowadays it is hard to imagine the routine of modern society without the Internet. I reckon today we all use it without stopping to really reckon about the advantages or disadvantages it may have. Though, facts as crimes often happen, and they should make us reckon about using the Internet.
On the one hand, Internet is a fantastic source of information: you have access to all human knowledge levied. Thus, not having internet is an barrier for many things like sharing news, getting a job, learning culture …
On the other hand, many people violate copyright and promotes dishonesty. There are also people who blackmail and steal identities.
The most fascinating theme is communication and social networks: We can talk to people all over the world, make friends and to meet our soul mate. It is also useful e-mail: saves paper and is quick and efficient. But the downside is that many people (especially children) are deceived daily by pedophiles, murderers and terrible people. It is also a disadvantage, the lack of interaction in person, users can become people with antisocial tendencies.
Internet is also the largest market in the world: we can buy anything from books to skulls of fetuses. It offers many business opportunities and marketing. With a website and a excellent thought, anyone can make a fortune. Nevertheless the disadvantage of it is that there are many forms of fraud and cheating: Some people steal bank financial statement, fake products are available…
We can find unlimited fun: music, videos and pictures of all type. There are many sites donation free entertainment. The inconvenience is that there are a large number of adult content and grotesque. Internet is flooded with pornography.
In my opinion is a fact that we must continue trying to improve Internet security measures. And frankly, it seems a bit sad so needy on it. We should learn to live real life and not spend so much time sitting in a chair looking at the computer or mobile.

i am going to talk to you about my erasmus year in spain
as you may know i went to barcelona for my erasmus which is in the east of spain. it has a population of ________ and is a large industrialized city. in barcelona they speak castellano while also speacking the dialect catalan.
when i arrived in barcelona it was all new for me. but as the year went on i soon got to know the place and where all was.
i arrived in spain with no apartment so for the first few days i stayed in a hotel. i then searched for an apartment on the internet and found one.. i went in but did not realise that it was infested with cockroaches so i had to go again. i went to a travel agents this time and they found me an aprtment which was near the college. at the start i found settling in very hard because i had never lived on my own but that changed soon after. i was also very nervous because of the culture differences like the food and the fact my college was going to be all in spanish. although i had already had classes in spanish i had never done business in spanish.
college in spain was very much the same like that in ireland.
it was hard at first as the teachers spar very quick and i did not fully know what they were saying but they were very helpful as were the other students. i also had a very excellent co ordinator that helped me when i needed help. for example when picking subjects. for the first month i may possibly pick and choose my classes to see what was best for me. students contributed to the classes in spain compared to that in ireland. they were not shy and a lot of the time would discuss topics between themselves and the teacher which i found different. normally students would stay silent well in ireland anyway. i also enrolled for a spanish course which was for ten weeks and i felt it helped me with my spanish and was helpful for my college work.
