Question by blame it on the a-a-alcohol baby: Is Spanish akin to Italian? Akin enough to where I may possibly know/learn quickly the Italian language?
I am 20 yrs. ancient and pretty much as white as you can get lol, but I am more or less fluent in the spanish language.

Knowing the grammar rules, how the language flows, etc. of the spanish language, how hard would it be to learn Italian? I have always just loved the Italian language and culture, and even listening to Andrea Bocelli songs in Italian, I often find myself understanding a lot of what he is singing.

So exactly how akin is Spanish to Italian? Which parts are akin? What are the main similarities/differences between the two languages?

No N- um do people’s races and ethnicities have to do with the language they speak? usually yes… and if you don’t realize that, obviously you are the “freak”.

I’m learning both languages-
1. Grammar is verry simular even the congiation is simular
2. obvioulsy the vocabulary is very clsoe
the largest differces are an a ocational word here and there
either have evolved difrently over time or don’t share the same root for example azul would be blu and Bianca would be blanco.
and how you pronounce a few letters
Except for j, z ,ch,ce,ci,ge,gi and ll they are pronounced the same way. the LL dose not exist in Italian a j , ge , gi are said said like the English J. The Ci and CE the C is said like a CH in Spanish and Itlain Ch is like a Spanish Qu. so Che would be read like que.

I’m thought of taking a beginners Spanish course at university. Is it a hard language to learn? Do people tend to pick up the basics quickly?
I can only speak English. Although, I did a small bit of German a while back.

Question by : Which language should I choose?
Basically, I joined Freshman year in German Language 1. I made it to German 2, and about halfway through my teacher lost a huge test of mine before it was scored, and I disastrous by 1% point. So the next semester I was forced to take an Art class instead. By the end of the year two things had happened- I was diagnosed with late-recognized ADD, which helped give reasons for my difficulty in assignments, and the German teacher was arrested (3 fake identities, sexual relations with a female student, and purposely losing male student’s schoolwork to remove them from his classes). So I said, yeah, no thanks, to retaking German 2 and chose to grab Spanish 1 while I still had the chance.

I’m not terrible at German- I was really one of the best. In his class my grades were the result of the random lost assignments and my own ADD and pure laziness ruining papers and homework. I never had a problem with the language itself- I was in the top 5 German speaking students in the school, not counting the small class of German 3′s (overachievers…).

I’m having a slight difficulty learning Spanish aptly now (it’s kind of reflex to answer in German in a language class by now), and am wondering which I should have chosen. My German is turning rusty in the absence of actual german conversations, and Spanish is exhausting (teacher piles a ton of work into it). Yet, at the same time, there’s no one to speak German to here in Arizona, and Spanish would be a major help in the real world, such as whenever I’m around Phoenix or such. So…

Spanish- simpler, quicker to learn, more natural, more handy.
German- much more experience, honestly hard to learn, not used- like, EVER. I don’t know any German students who can hold a exchange anymore, nobody uses it at all outside of classrooms.

Which do you reckon I would be better off with?
